DRS Business Systems, Inc. was started by Martin Berliner in 1968. As a representative for a fortune 100 company Mr. Berliner needed to augment the medical accounting products the company sold.

Working out of his basement he supplied the additional forms the physician needed to make the medical accounting system he sold work properly.

Eventually he added new products including one write accounting systems and medical forms.

Supplying printing and printed products was not new for Mr. Berliner. His printing background started at the age of 13 running a Kluge printing press in his father's print shop. From there he graduated to production manager of business forms and quality color printing.

Martin Berliner studied at the Art Students League of New York and the School of Visual Arts also in New York. His love for drawing and painting gave him the skill to design forms.

Prior to DRS, Martin Berliner designed the first Superbill with the help of an OBGYN in Flushing Queens, NY.

This simple 1 part enlarged receipt was the first of more than 200 systems produced for physicians in the New York area. Later the manufacturer of these receipts refined the original idea and made the one part receipt a 3 part receipt. The Superbill (Encounter Form) as we know it today was born.
